Buckhead Day

100_3284

We headed back to Buckhead today for the anniversary festivities.  Good ole small town fun.  There was a tractor parade, Bluegrass music (Britt’s band “Ramblin Mountain”), food, crafts/art ( I got to pick out some jewelry as a Christmas gift from my parents, I also bought some really cute dangly ear rings!), sack race, three-legged race, and a watermelon eating contest.  Jody is a city council member so she was in charge of the games.  After we all took naps at Jody’s we went to the local mexican restaurant…never get sick of mexican!  On the way home, Jonathan introduced Addison to the “Quiet Game”…so funny that Addison really liked it and wanted to win.  Everyone is tucked in to their cozy beds and fast asleep now.

Monday…That’s our funday!

Jonathan had to work late…so it was just the three of us until around 9pm!  I decided to take the kids swimming at our neighbor’s pool.  Later, I realized that our their life jackets were in Jonathan’s car (then on friday I took Jonathan’s keys in my car!….always something!)!  Yikes!  I grabbed these two floaty things…which the kids enjoyed “outside” of the water!  They were pretty much worthless in the water (I couldn’t trust the floaty or the child!)   Luckily, Addison could just barely touch in the shallow side.  He can swim a little under water….maybe  2 or 3 strokes.  We all survived!

AMELIA

Amelia is really starting to talk more now.  The other morning she woke up Jonathan saying,” I want to eat.  I’m hungry Daddy!”

She keep on trying to use the potty…waits…and looks….and waits… and even started hitting her bottom to jump start the action but with no results!

**News update**  She actually pee-peed in the potty twice now before I finished this post!  yeah!

She copies everything Addison does.

Has started to go to time-out!  (likes to scream at times!)

Slept until 10am this morning!

Loves her babies.  I saw her pat its cheek and feed it the bottle while sitting in the Elmo chair.

Does not like to have her teeth brushed!

Tilts her head to the side when posing for a photo.

Has some sort of excema like stuff on her face.  Flares up if I don’t put medicine on every few days.

ADDISON

Makes us laugh everyday.

Jonathan told him that his nostrils would get big if he picked his nose.  Addison replied very seriously, “Oh, Thank you Daddy.  I did not know that!  You sure know a lot of things Daddy!”

Had a meltdown when he was told that he would not be going to grandma Vinson’s house (Jenny had the keys to the car at work!).  Later he came to Jonathan and said, ” Daddy, I’m sorry I freaked out.”    (Freaked out?!)

Always wants to know the plan….”What am I going to do when I wake up?”

Most of the time he seems so grown up to me….and then he will bust out whining and crying over the simplest thing…and I realize that he still is only 3 years old!

Both Addison and Amelia love it when I sing “Zip-a-dee-do-da!” .  They intermediately start laughing and dancing.  So cute.

Today Addison said in the car,” Daddy, I want to be like you when you grow up!”

Night Swimming

After we left the Zoo on Friday, we headed over to Janice and Jason’s house.  Jonathan met us there with pizza and we all went for a night swim.  It was really nice…didn’t have to deal with the heat, squinting eyes, or sunscreen…plus we had the whole pool to ourselves!  Got this shot on my first try… it is so hard to get all of them looking in the same direction at the same time!

Watermelon, Watermelon….

We went to Jody and Brit’s after church.  Brenda and Bobby brought a huge watermelon to share.  I think it was the sweetest one I have ever had!  We let the kids just have at it!  I think little Milly ate the most…..probably bout ate her own weight!

Another photo shoot before church

100_3181

We are always running late to church!  This morning my mom called to remind us that their was only one service at 10am….so we actually had a few minutes to spare and still get there on time!  Might as well get some photos while everyone is all dressed up!

Tie-Dye Time…..lost post.

000_0009

Some how missed this post.  Janice invited us over to make tie-dye shirts.  She had shirts for everyone…even me!  We were really excited at how they were turning out….however the colors did fade after washing.  I will have to take a photo of Addison’s shirt to share…I still think it looks pretty cool.

Tie-Dye makes me think of Troy.  He went to a small “hippie” college  by the name of Warren Wilson College in North Carolina.  He had a classmate that tie-died everything!  All his designs were really unique and intricate, not the standard.  Troy had him dye some backpacks for us as a Christmas gift.  I thought I was the coolest girl in school…no one had a pack like mine!

Troy really was not a “hippie” kind of guy even though he went to this small (I think it was big in agriculture) school where most of the students were all organic, eating  granola, etc.  I remember his friend saying that lots of girls had crushes on him but he didn’t really date much.  Troy told him that it was because all the girls there smelled like “dirt”!

Family Movie Night with Grandma

100_3178

Complete with popcorn!  We watched “Madiline” (not really a good choice for the little ones!) but Addison liked it.  I think he mostly enjoys everyone together on the pull-out couch and eating popcorn.  It was even more exciting because they got to cuddle up with Grandma.  Amelia watch for a while and then Jonathan put her in the bed.  She did like the popcorn….her first time!  I like it that Allie is in a lot of my photos…she is so sweet….always want to be with us and part of the action.

Memorial Zoo

After the bone marrow drive, Jody took us to the cutest little zoo.  I think most of the animals have been “rescued”.  They had all sorts of animals…bears, bobcats, deer, turkey, alligators, snakes, owls, hawks, turtles, and so on!  Jody used to work there years ago.  We also stopped to feed the ducks at the pond before we piled back in the car.

This is a bald eagle!

Reminds me of the song..."Ebony and Ivory"!

I want to “Be the Match”!

000_0018

I want to be the match for Griffin….or maybe someone else one day.  We met Jody in Athens for the bone marrow drive.  Jody and I both signed up to be on the registry.  It was very simple…just a swab of our cheeks!  You can have a test sent to your home for free  at  :  marrow.org     or visit:   dkmsamericas.org                                                                        Please pray for Griffin, his family, and for complete healing!

Vegetable Soup

I think vegetable soup is one of my most favorite foods.  I could eat it for days  (even in August)!  It brings back memories of my childhood and the fun of “snow days”.  The kids love it too!  They had fun dumping all of the ingredients into the big pot.

We went down the big slide all together.

This is the picture Addison took of me using my camera.
